A few strides from Goodge Street station located in the exclusive area of Fitsrovia, Maple and Fitz is a petite quaint cafe that offers an escape from the bustle of central London to a natural, serene, relaxing and welcoming space to enjoy a light lunch, coffee with friends or get on with some work over a green juice or smoothie. The top floor of the cafe has a small window table to sit at however most of the space is taken up with displaying the impressive selection of salads, sweets, juices, smoothies and take away snacks. Downstairs you will find a cozy yet comfortable space with a few tables, natural decor making for a quaint little pace to enjoy a meal or snack.

The cafe was well staffed and service was fast, everyone we encountered was very helpful and knowledgeable about the menu and options available. We got the pleasure of chatting with the cafe owner regarding the ethos behind the cafe, her future ambitions for the brand and what inspired her flavors on the menu. It is easy to the passion and hard work that goes into maintaining a great range of foods focusing on health however catering for all people and dietary preferences.

Food and Drink:
5/5

The menu has a strong vegan and vegetarian base with the option off adding extra's such as halloumi, avocado, tofu, eggs, fish and chicken. Catering for a range of dietary preferences and creating an interesting range of dishes and salads inspired from flavors around the globe that actually make you excited to eat you veggies. From Julia's Caesar a Mexican mix and my personal favorite the Bi bim bap- there is something for every taste preference and craving whether you are after a sweet spicy kick, a super clean and healthy broccoli salad, a wrap, some soup or a sweet treat.
We got to try a large range of the salad options available, Josh going for all the vegetarian options and myself tasting all the vegan delights. Every single mouthful of every dish we sampled was absolute perfection. Flavor, texture, freshness - it was a true pleasure to get the opportunity to try these brilliantly constructed and balanced dishes. My personal favorite salad dish was the bi bim bap, incredibly flavorful  great kick authentic taste. Maple and Fitz, in my option, also can claim ownership to the best tofu in London. Smoked firm tofu rubbed with five spice and cooked without oil on a griddle pan topped with almond butter and sesame seeds. I am now a true tofu convert after trying many bland tofu dishes and making some true tofu culinary blunders in my own kitchen, this was such an incredibly delicious punchy and healthy way to enjoy this largely misunderstood ingredient.
Along with the delightful savory options there was also a great selection of sweet treat including raw, gluten free options as well as a joyfully sinful brownie. A range of fresh cold pressed juices are available along with some delicious smoothies and hot drinks with a range of vegan and dairy milks to choose from.

An incredible experience in a little hidden gem easily surpassed on the way to the neighboring pret. Superior salads, fantastic flavors, great customer service a relaxing atmosphere all for a reasonable price in this central sophisticated location. We will definitely be returning on the regular and I have already pointed a few friends in Maple and Fitz' direction for a grab and go or quick stop lunch between castings. We would highly recommend maple and Fitz for a lunch or snack especially if you enjoy a really good flavorful and nutritious salad.

Location: 64 Old Compton Street, Soho.(Nearest tube Leicester Square)
Price*: £38-£45
(*based on two course meal for two with drinks)
Summary: An entirely gluten free Italian Restaurant with a focus on polenta dishes.
Service: Table service.
Special Diets: Gluten free. Omnivore. Vegetarian. Vegan
Favorite Dish:

Ambiance/Atmosphere:

A few moments from Soho square on the popular bustling Compton Street, La Polentaria is about as central as you can get. The restaurant was packed full of people enjoying their evening meal over glass of wine, a hum of conversation and a buzzing yet relaxed atmosphere. The restaurant is warmly lit and furnished with rustic wooden tables and chairs. The decor is very neutral but livened up with some interesting elements such as black boards, wall prints and displays which add character to the restaurant without overwhelming & overcrowding it!

Customer Service:

We were shown to our table by our waiter who explained the concept behind La Polentaria and made sure that we were comfortable. We continued to be looked after by attentive and friendly staff throughout our evening and all the front of house team were very helpful and accommodating.

Food & Drink:

La Polenteria is an entirely gluten free Italian restaurant with a focus on Polentaria dishes though there is a large range of pasta, gnocchi and other Italian favorites also available. There are meat dishes on the menu and a varied selection of vegan and vegetarian dishes to choose from all of which are clearly labelled.
For our starter Josh ordered the Polenta with asparagus, egg scamorza cheese and truffle oil; I opted for the courgette & ginger box stuffed with fresh vegetables topped with caramelised onions. Both these dishes were delicious and flavourful and were generously portioned. The subtle hint of ginger particularly bought out the flavors in my dish and added a nice twist - perhaps not authentically Italian but tasty all the same. For our main course we both went for pasta dishes; Josh's polenta gnocchi with truffle cheese dish was rich and creamy with a rustic home made taste and feel. My home made olive pasta served with vegetables topped with nuts dish was beautifully presented with a subtle range of flavours it was generously portioned too. Sadly the pasta was a little overcooked for my taste.
There was only one vegan option on the dessert menu, which I didn't particularly fancy as it was pasta-based; however Josh found room for dessert opting for tiramisu. Once again the dessert portion was very generous and the food was tasty.
There was a selection of alcoholic beverages available; beers, wine and a choice of soft drinks. I ordered a coffee with soya milk to finish my meal which was adequate.

La Polenteria is definitely one to keep an eye on and worth a try. Tasty food, lovely atmosphere and great staff .It is growing increasingly in popularity and it is clear to see why. There is a little way to go in perfecting the dishes and recipes however they are really worth popping along to if you are after a nice carby Italian meal that is tasty and filling.

Situated on the harbour at Margate with beautiful beach views, this is a truly charming location and is reflected in the equally quaint interior.  A relaxed atmosphere and beachy style décor meant that we immediately felt comfortable and welcome; we took a candle lit table by the window so we could enjoy the gorgeous view.

Well staffed establishment, service was fast and the waiting staff were very attentive. Everyone we encountered had a good knowledge of the menu and was able to specify which foods were suitable for specific dietary requirements. It was lovely to meet the restaurant owner and learn about her passion for catering for a plant based diet; creating interesting and original options for vegetarian and vegans to choose from.

The choice was extensive; there was not only a lunch menu to choose from, but also a blackboard displaying the a' la carte options. There were several vegan, vegetarian and gluten free dishes to choose from and many were able to adapted as well. For my main I ordered baby aubergine spiced veggies, chickpeas and minted tomatoes. This was a simple but tasty dish, light and fresh with a great combination of flavours; the minted tomatoes adding a lovely freshness. Josh ordered the marinated halloumi kebab with butter-bean and almond mousse and chips.  The chips were chunky and delicious and the halloumi was tasty, toasted to perfection and worked beautifully with the butter-bean and almond mousse; a delicious smooth and creamy accompaniment.
For dessert we were really keen to try the Raw Vegan Chocolate Torte and we were not disappointed! This treat was rich and flavourful with a perfectly smooth texture and thin crisp base- it would give some raw vegan specialty cafe's and restaurant a run for their money! The second dessert was a giant slice of pear, parsnip and ginger cake, this was moist and had a great subtle combination of flavours.

Interesting and unique café/restaurant offering something for everyone including a spectacular range of vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options. Really tasty food, great vibe and a beautiful location.

Every member of staff we encountered was friendly, up-beat and attentive. They were more than accommodating to any dietary preferences and able to adapt and alter dishes to suit our needs. All staff were very knowledgeable about the menu and spoke with enthusiasm about the selection of food and drinks available.

Hoxton 100 offers a range of sharing plates, sides, mains and cocktails to pick and choose from. All dishes have an Asian style twist incorporating lots of sweet and savoury combinations. Each table has complimentary water delicately flavoured with cucumber and lemon which is a delicious touch.

We each ordered a cocktail to start our meal, the aptly named Hoxton 100 made with a mixture of prosecco and lychee syrup was a  sweet fruity and light delight. The copa agave was strong but flavourful and extremely fresh.

We had the pleasure of trying a huge range of dishes at Hoxton 100 and there is not a single one that we didn't enjoy! The salads are, without a doubt, the best and most beautifully combined, textured and flavoured I have ever come across. The roasted aubergine just topped the list, with an incredible melange of smoky fresh, creamy, crunchy and crisp elements making for a stunning dish. Another salad stand out was the roasted sweet potato option which was adapted to su vegans by using a Dijon dressing. This came with perfectly cooked sweet potato fries a tangy date chutney  and crunchy walnuts resulting in a sour, sticky yet smoky and earthy combination of flavours.

We got the opportunity to sample a new dish which is soon to be the staple vegan main option on the menu. This was a sumptuous black bean tofu dish that was full of flavour and had an incredible variety of textures created by the soft tofu, sticky sauce and fresh veggies.

All the sides we tried were simple yet delicious, particularly the hearty potatoes in a spicy tomato sauce, the warm and familiar tasting rice dish and the simple yet satisfying cheesy potato croquets.

To round off our feast we ordered an espresso martini which was the best in London we have ever tried! Smooth rich and sweet this is a real must try for martini fans.

Hoxton 100 is a diamond set in East London, it caters for every dietary preference within a cool, young and relaxed environment which is a pleasure to spend an evening in. Great customer service, incredible flavours and original cocktails; a really unique and exemplary establishment at an affordable, reasonable price.
