REQUISITE MAGAZINE

During the months the creator of Votch Watches spent bedridden suffering from a condition called Tropical Steroid Withdrawal  she absorbed hours of documentaries focusing on animal welfare. She became aware of the horrific fur and animal skin industries and made the decision to not be responsible for wearing someone elses' skin. Part of the condition she was suffering from actually makes your skin fall off and it made her realise how important skin is and that we are all living beings. As she recovered she decided to create something that aligned with her passion for animal welfare, so when an old watch strap broke and she struggled to find a vegan leather replacement, the idea of Votch was born.

Votch uses knitted cotton microfibre and Green PU to create simple but smart and stylish watch straps that are eco-friendly All straps comply with REACH and ROHS meaning no harmful chemicals are used. The watches themselves are made from high quality 316L stainless steel, using Japanese movements and modern stylish brushed exteriors in a range colours. Votch take pride in the planning of their range and have new designs that will be available in Spring 2017.

We asked Votch why they think making a different is important, here is what they said:

Our society is based on the whole fast fashion notion, and seldom do we consider what its behind that £20 ‘real leather bag’. Every year over a billion animals are slaughtered for leather and some of the largest exporters are from countries where there are little to no animals welfare laws. People often presume leather is just a byproduct of the meat and dairy industry, but this is not the case, and often it’s not just cows that are slaughtered for their skins, it can be cats, dogs and other species. It is not  just the animals we’re harming,in some countries the conditions of tanneries are so toxic, not only to the people working in them, but also their surrounding environment, where chemicals get in to the water supply which people wash and drink from. I also find it particularly alarming that as a society, we’re largely quick to shun fur, but leather is deemed acceptable. This makes no sense to me now, skin is skin. So we try to make the difference to show people that you can go cruelty free without sacrificing anything There are plenty of other alternatives and options out there.

Founded in 2009 this Italian shoe and accessories company are on the right path to making a big difference, Not only in fashion statements but in their environmental foot print as well.
You find many companies that are happy to use or are using cruelty free material’s but tend to forget that everything has a carbon foot print, everything effects nature in one way or another. Noah Vegan shoes are using Sustainable and lasting materials, while insuring there are no harmful substances used and of course are free of leather and animal products.

Made using traditional Italian handcrafted production methods while working with new and innovative materials to achieve some high quality and beautiful Italian shoes that combine elegance with style, passed down through generations of skilled shoe makers, simple but classy styles that compliment any relaxed outfit or evening wear, whether it be Men’s boots or lady’s flat shoes, they got it right the first time.

Noah believes that upholding the Italian Volce vita – zest for life paired with responsible choices in business and development is the key to sustainably and this hold true through their production process, design and products, there is a responsibility to make a difference and Noah are right at the front of line when it comes to balancing the two.

The link between Fashion & Food is growing, with all the famous and fabulous splashing Instagram with their arty breakfast bowls and super diets created by some fitness guru you’ve never heard of.

sexy say what?

Over the past few years, food has grown to be and has its own sex appeal , not in the naughty sense but more in that the shapes and patterns that food can create, those have become much more appealing , with beautiful exotic fruits full of bright colours and a weird name you can’t pronounce , avocado roses and some truffle ice cream topped with the beard of a wise man , over all it is the images that draw us into the void that makes us crave these things, what is it, what does it taste like?

But how does that link to fashion?

Well for most celebrities there are two main things your see on their Instagram’s that being fashion and of course food, created by them or some overly priced restaurant , but as long as it looks nice that is the key to engagement , look pretty and colourful, want what they want, then dress how they dress, it isn’t so much of a new thing when it comes to being super rich and famous, everyone has always followed some sort of trend or look through the years, but now it’s a simple finger tap to phone screen and you can dive head first into what they eat and wear , it’s glamour’s , beautiful and twisted all at the same time, food artist create these stunning adverts and works of art and it is beautiful but it isn’t true to what it may really be , the same goes along with fashion, photoshop everything and it will be fine

we say be your own, create your own, but build from ideas, take note and eat well, the fashion is all down to person taste, but never let someone tell you that you can’t wear what you want, think lime green sweat pants and torn hoodies
