Welcome back!

I have been off here a little while due to some tech issues and the world slowly getting back to normal, well we say back to normal but really it is just a mess. I for one have been back to work and working back in the city and have really taken its toll on my skin and it doesn't help to have to wear a mask for hours on end but then it is all for our safety after all.

But I have felt a few different effects which go along with masks and being in the city, one is my skin seem to be producing more sebum (oily feeling) and I also seem to be getting spots, which doesn't happen often at all. I can only think that my skin is 1. got used to the air of being locked in a house for months on end and is now being affected by city air and 2.the mask is collect bacteria from being on my face and then in my pocket.

I cleanse my skin every day anyway and change it up often but something I don't change up or give more thought to is the soap or shower gel I use, so to try and combat this issues I sort to swap this up and go for something I don't use often which is bar soap and something with an added kick to it as well. The product of choice was from Madara and was there Charcoal Detox Soap, the perfect thing for what I need, a detox.

To be honest, having a shower isn't something I need to explain to you guys, I am sure you all know how to do such a thing but the main point is that changing up something small can make a big difference to your skin. This soap may be small but being filled with charcoal gives it a natural and intensely purifying properties, activated charcoal is used in so many products now and that is because it really does work. Charcoal draws out toxins and impurities which gets deep into the skin while still acting gently in the process of cleaning your skin.

I have never really like bar soap but this has made a big difference to how my skin feels and has helped reduce the effects of the city and mask, charcoal ah, what a wonderful thing.

You can pick up this soap at Lovelula.com

Stress it affects us all in one way or another and in recent years mental health has become a more, lets say accepted thing but still very miss understood within the working environment which isn’t acceptable really, workplaces think you can just switch stress on and off and they seem to think it directly comes from your workplace and then try and push you out, well it isn’t really like that at all, we may or may not know the reasons behind the stress, little things can build up or big things can trigger it.

I personally suffer with what is called the cycling stress, it comes and goes without warning but when I get stressed I can’t stop thinking about that stress, I can’t let go over it, I am sure many of you have felt this in one way but again everyone is different and I think that’s what makes it so hard for people to understand, you know that say, just be happy, just get over it well, its just not that simple otherwise we wouldn’t we would, you twats.

Yeah we can all go to the doctors and pump ourselves full of mind-numbing drugs that will cause the start of some zombie apocalypse, well that’s how they make you feel at least, yes they calm down the stress but they aren’t a help more like a cover-up and I for one hate cover-ups, so I try to destress in more natural ways, like Yoga and meditation , sleep meditation is a key player in helping me to sleep, as this is when the mind stupidly decides it want to become awake all night long, imagine a clicking sound going on in your head for 8 hours, that’s is my sleep, my nightmare. Sleep meditation helps clear and calm my mind. That is all good and well but the problem is when I am out and about, doing some work or I am meeting a client, I can't really just start meditating or doing yoga.

So I went on the hunt for something I can do or use to help calm stress in the day or when I feel I need it, the search came up with some interesting things including calming herbal teas, practice things to do like writing out the things that stress you out then destroying the paper to rid of them negative feelings, but the one that seemed most practical was de stress oils, a simple roll on that you place on the wrists and temples, so I picked some up and they happened to have it in one of my favourite online stores for natural and organic products that being Lovelula.com, so I brought this De-remedy oil by Mia & Dom, It contains the essential oils of May Chang and Bergamot, May chang being a natural pick-me-up that helps clear the mind and relieve the feeling of anxiety, it’s a rather zesty oil with hints of lemon, it is uplifting but calming on the skin, I am always a bit sceptical when it comes to these sort of things but this little roll on does help to relieve tension and is a nice fresh up, its small size also makes it perfect for when I am on the go or even travelling abroad, there are a few different products like this can help with stress relieve, including sprays and gels, check them out at lovelula.com

Something so noticeable shouldn't ever be forgotten, but for so many of us, we do forget that our smile is a key part of facial features and is something that most people notice first.

I myself really don't like my smile, but my teeth aren't all that bad, I still have them all which is a good thing, but due to all the coffee and cigarettes, they do tend to go a bit yellow which is only to be expected, you can only do some much my brushing your teeth, it is the general day to day maintenance which is the most important, we need those teeth at the end of the day, but then we also want a nice bright white smile, which is always possible with just toothpaste.

I have tried out lots of these whitening kinds of toothpaste and mouthwashes and they do help, But not as much as these do at home whitening kits, my most recent product of choice is from Style white, it works on teeth that are discoloured due to the consumption of, tea, wine, smoking and so on, the kit helps give you back the natural brightness of your teeth without causing damage to the enamel of nerves.

The kit from Style white includes whitening gel, Mouth tray and light activator. The gel lasts around 6 sessions and can lift your teeth up to 4 shades brighter and it only takes 10mins. I went ahead and tested the kit as soon as it arrived and it worked so well, I told everyone about it, it lifted my teeth 4 shades light on the first go, I was really impressed how well it worked without leaving my teeth sensitive like a lot of other products have , I will be using it whenever possible and it is so simple to use. Below is a rundown of how to use it.

1. Brush your teeth first, got to get them as clean as possible
2. Clip the Light into the front of the Mouth tray
3. Run a small layer of the whitening gel along the verticle sides of the Mouth tray, top & bottom.
4. Place the tray in your mouth so it sits against your teeth and bite down to keep it in place.
5.  Press the bottom on top of the light to switch it on and wait 10minutes, the light will beep when the 10 minutes have passed
6. Done, remove the mouth tray and stare in the mirror at your glorious whiter teeth.
7. Rinse clean the mouth tray clean for the next use, but don't get the light wet.

This kit is available at Lovelula.com

Do you ever get those restless nights, you just cannot sleep, you're turning over and over and no matter what you do you can't get that shut-eye and then when you finally do get to sleep you keep waking up and don't get that powerful rest your body needs.

Well here are three simple ways to improve your sleep that really do work.

1. SLEEP MEDITATION
Now I know what your thinking and you really don't need to be spiritual to benefit from sleep meditation, it's really simple and easy to do laying down, the basis of this is soft music with spoke work talking over it, you just have to lay there and listen, thinking and following what the person is saying and controlling your breath, this really does help you relax and drift off to sleep while helping to empty your mind of stresses. There are a few different types of sleep meditation, including charka and hypnosis, any of them will do help relax you but they are all very interesting and helpful to give it a go and see if it helps.

2.SLEEP SCENTS
Again you're probably thinking what the hell is that and to be it simply it is like sleep air fresher, sounds funny right?

Well, they have been proven to really help calm. the mind and help you get a better nights sleep. This award-winning goodnight mist by Neals Yard Remedies in Covent Garden London has proven to improve your sleep from the first night. The blend of organic lavender, vetiver and mandarin essential oils promote a sense of calm for a peaceful night, simply spray it around your pillow before bed and enjoy the essence of sleep. (Available online at Lovelula.com)

3.YOGA
Thats right, straight up yoga and this isnt something you need to train for or have a big interest in, but doing some simple yoga before bed helps your body and mind unwind, lets you losen up but is also great for your muscles and building strenght, yoga is simply two main things, breathing control and posing, its about learning to control yourself while emptying your mind, it has so many style and movements to choose from, but below is a simple routine that can be done before bed in 10mins, just remember, long deep breathes throught the nose amd out throught the month.

Now these are all simple and effect ways to help you get a better nights sleep, you can try each one out and see if it helps, but I recommend trying all three out in one go, start with yoga, the mist then the meditation while you lay in bed, you won't just get to sleep but you sleep better.

Happy 40 winks.

Winter is a harsh time for many of us, a lack of sunlight and cold weather really can take it’s toll on the mind and body. There are a lots of things that can help with this, eating well and getting enough exercise. But if like me you don’t always have the time for a daily work out or time to cook a well-balanced meal, something I make sure I do is to take vitamins to give me that added boost. Vitamins come naturally in the food we eat but that doesn’t mean we are getting enough of them or the right ones for our bodies.

One of the best and most important vitamins to take for me would be Vitamin C, also known as ascorbic acid. This vitamin is abundant in many fruits and vegetables and is a powerful antioxidant, which helps the body form and maintain connectivity, like tissue, bones, blood vessels and skin.

It not only helps maintain but also to repair and regenerate tissues, protecting against heart disease and aiding in the absorption of other vitamins such as Iron, which helps with fatigue. It is  common to not get enough iron, one of the highest vitamin deficiencies known. Taking Vitamin C helps aid this as well.  It can also be beneficial  in  helping to reduce cholesterol and triglycerides. It has also been shown to fight free radicals and neutralise the effects of nitrites, which are bad preservatives found in packaged foods. I take 250mg tablets from Terra Nova which are non- acidic and multi-ascorbate. They are best taken with food to help aid absorption into the body, they are free from additives and free from animal products. Keeping them as natural as possible which is always best.

Like most brits I do love a good classic cup of tea, it’s comforting effect on the soul, just like most teas I would think, but with so many teas available now it is hard to stick to your standard breakfast tea.

Tea has been around for thousands of years and drunk in many ways, like for ritual reasons and now days mainly for the comforting feeling or the health benefits which come with these super teas that are now widely available across the globe, things like green tea and floral tea. You either like the taste or hate it, I don’t think many people will openly admit they enjoy the taste of green tea, but the positives of drinking it out weight the negatives, If you often read my articles you will know that I am slowly making my way through the range of teas available from Teatox and here is my brake down of the next one.

This time I went with the tea Pure Beauty, because I could do with some beauty in my life right now and the tea sounded tasty at the same time. The mild aromatic tea consists of hand picked organic ingredients and has antioxidants and purifying effect on the body, made with white tea, camomile, olive leaves and pineapple, which where select to support the body and give you a radiant appearance from with in, the white tea and olive leaves in particular help protect the bodies organs and skin while making you feel better as a whole, the hydrogenates in the tea help fluids balanced and keep you hydrated while the caffeine in the white tea helps to keep you stimulated and olives leaves provide a  healthy dose of antioxidants that support the bodies detoxification process. These teas are lose teas that come in small cans, you have to leave the tea to brew in a diffuser, if you don’t have one Teatox also have this covered as well, check out there range at love Lula
