Sunflower Print Bodycon Dress by Motel Rocks
With floral season in full swing, it’s time to invest in a
wardrobe refresh. Enter summer in style with this gorgeous bold printed dress,
it features a round neckline and spaghetti straps making it perfect for a hot
summer’s day. Maintain the ‘girly’ style with the print but add an element of
sexiness with the bodycon fitted dress.
I wore my bodycon dress in ‘XS’ size and I found it to be so
comfortable. What I love about bodycon is that it extenuates my curves (my hips
and posterior), giving me a gorgeous silhouette. Style with heels and a bright
coloured lip for an evening ensemble, or alternatively if you wish to go for a
‘laid-back day look’, style with converses/vans. And finally, for a ‘grungy’
vibe, pair this dress with either biker boots or chunky black boots, and don’t
be afraid to whip out some black fishnets and a choker to give your whole
outfit an edgy finish!
I personally love outfits that make a statement and have
‘character’. I’m always on the lookout for something unique, such as a
contemporary/modern style infused with a traditional combination.
I’m fond of this print for many reasons. One, being that
sunflowers are my favourite flowers, they’re so bright and summery and are
associated with happiness. And two, I’m an art enthusiast, so this print really
reminds me of Vincent Van Gogh’s famous sunflower paintings. So, for me, it’s
like I’m wearing a piece of art!
It is believed “Sunflowers” is tied up in the saga of Van
Gogh’s severed ear. In Arles, Vincent rented quarters in what he called the “Yellow
House”, and furnished a room to accommodate Gauguin. He planned to decorate the
room with sunflower paintings. Later, the Yellow House would be the scene of
Vincent’s self-mutilation.
“I find comfort in contemplating the sunflowers” – Vincent
Van Gogh.
