Molo lounge | Quirky by the Sea

London is place you can always find a great vegan meal, and with the changing tides comes more and more vegan menus around the UK. This year alone Southend on Sea has gained some great new Cafes, Delis and Bars that offer up vegan menus, including the recently  opened Molo Lounge at the top of the High Street. Founded in 2002 the Lounge Group is actually a bar that started in Bristol. The venue is quirky with a mix of wooden tables, multicolour stalls and vintage art works covering the walls, it has a young vibe and it works well in Southend. The best part is their vegan menu.

The Food
Being a bar I was expecting the food  to be classic bar food of chips burgers and sandwiches, that it was, but the food is a bit more than your bog standard bar food. Serving breakfast, tapas, sides and main dishes, you have a fair bit to choose from. I opted for the  falafel & hummus ciabatta which comes with the vegan house slaw and some additional sides of sweet potato fries and steamed chilli  broccoli. It didn’t disappoint. The ciabatta was wonderful and although it looked simple, it was package with flavour. The red cabbage, wild rocket and carrot tapenade in a toasted ciabatta with hot falafel were a great combination. The fries were crisp( I hate soggy fries) and accompanied by the chilli broccoli. It was a nice mix of textures and tastes, to fill any hungry soul. Overall I had a good experience, with super food in a great venue.
