What a characterful, vibrant place! Quirky decor including record disc tables, wine bottles in crates, fresh basil growing and a coffee bean mosaic on the front of the bar. For a Tuesday evening the place had a lot of life to it and a few tables were filled of people happily enjoying there Italian feast over some wine and conversation with each other and the very welcoming staff.

All of the staff were lovely and very welcoming, quick to clear tables and refill the water jug, as well as advice and talk about the food on offer. We were lucky enough to have a chat with Fabio, the owner, and it was a real pleasure finding out a little more about the ethics and concept behind Fed by Water. Fabio's passion for quality ingredients, sound ethics and happy customers really shine through in the feel of the place as well as the food.

Seldom do you find a restaurant that serves such a range of vegan and veggie options along side the usual meat and dairy. I was a little apprehensive at the massive choice of dishes wondering maybe quality was being compromised in turn of having more dishes on the menu, however my concerns were completely unfounded. We tried a range of the dishes including foccacia with a range of spreads and dips, vegan pizza, quinoa salad and the two pasta specials, Vegan Carbonara and Vegan Tagietelli Da'mare. Freshly baked foccacia with salt imported from Italy and a range of incredible cashew cheese, pesto and hummus made for a mouth-watering start to our meal. Then we got to try a range of the vegan main courses from the pizza to pasta to the healthier salad options. The absolutely massive Pizza was on an authentic thin Italian base and topped with a sumptuous tomato sauce, some soy cheese, olives and a range of soy meats. The generously portioned quinoa salad was light, fresh and flavorful. Vegan carbonara served al' dente was incredibly indulgent and delicious without feeling overly heavy. Finally the the tagietelli da'mere was a really interesting dish, using sea weed for the salty, fishy flavor and cashews and pistachios in place of shell fish, it was a wonderfully well thought through and executed concept and tasted incredibly convincing.
Authentic Italian food made with passion and care with a choice for everyone and a lovely atmosphere and staff, this is a must try and one I would bring my non-veggie friends to not only because they have meat options of the menu, but also because the vegan options are incredibly well executed and really show the amazing range of delicious things you can enjoy whilst still following a vegan/veggie lifestyle.
