Portuguese Rosé - Mateus Orginal
Rosé isn't always the first wine that comes to mind when selecting a bottle, but it has grown on me in recent years and the team here have to agree, that sometimes you get hooked on one drink, and it doesn't have to be the most expensive bottle out there, good wine is all down to personal choice and the flavours on which you like, this bottle was a recent pickup and was mainly selected because we liked the bottle shape more than anything, but we are glad we did.
Mateus Rosé is a well-known Portuguese wine. Wine aficionados have adored it for more than seventy years. The wine is prepared with grapes in the local area close to the Douro Valley, such as Baga and Rufete, which are handpicked from farms in the region. The wine gets its name from the valley. The end product is a cocktail of several Wines. The wine is created in a traditional manner, with vinification skills passed down from one generation of brewers to the next, helping to get just the right balance of flavour and continue brewing a lasting product.
After carefully picking the grapes by hand, they are crushed to extract the juice. After that, the juice is fermented at a certain temperature. The wine is then blended and stored for a brief period before being bottled to allow the flavours to develop. The result is a wine that is both dry and flavorful while remaining pleasant to the taste, you just can't go wrong.
it is an excellent choice for any occasion because it is a light wine that still manages to be delicious. The wine is light pink in hue, with hints of strawberry and raspberry undertones giving an overall refreshing flavour. It has an excellent acidity balance that makes it simple to drink.
