Neal's Yard - Frankincense Toner

Having cleansed my face, the next step in my everyday skincare routine is to tone. I wanted something natural and soothing for my skin. This best-selling facial toner is suitable for all skin types. With a blend of rejuvenating and evocative Frankincense essential oil, calming aloe vera and a smoothing tripeptide, it tones and primes your skin to better absorb moisturiser and other facial products.

A little about the origin and benefits of Frankincense:
Frankincense oil is from the genus Boswellia and sourced from the resin of the Boswellia carterii, Boswellia ferreana or Boswellia serrata trees that are commonly grown in Somalia, Southern Arabia and regions of Pakistan. This tree is different from many others in that it can grow with very little topsoil in dry and desolate conditions.
The word frankincense comes from the term “franc encens,” which means quality incense in old French. Frankincense has been associated with many different religions over the years, especially the Christian religion, as it was one of the first gifts given to Jesus by the wise men. What does frankincense smell like? It smells like a combination of pine, lemon and woody scents.

"strengthen skin
and improve it's tone"

This ancient oil also heals skin and prevents signs of ageing. Frankincense benefits include the ability to strengthen skin and improve its tone, elasticity, defence mechanisms against bacteria or blemishes, and appearance as someone ages. It may help tone and lift skin, reduce the appearance of scars and acne, and heals wounds.
According to a review published in the Journal of Traditional and Complementary Medicine, frankincense oil reduces redness and skin irritation, while also producing an evener skin tone. Studies suggest that it’s the pentacyclic triterpene (steroid-like) structure of frankincense oil that contributes to its soothing effect on irritated skin.

When I first used this product, I was blown away by the gorgeous scent. Frankincense has a really fresh and aromatic aroma and I was so excited to start using it. I gently sweep a small amount on cotton wool in an upwards motion and my skin immediately feels really cool and fresh. I’ve been using this toner for two weeks now and my overall skin health has improved – it’s so smooth and clear! I honestly cannot stop touching my skin because it feels incredibly soft. But alas, it’s not good for skin health to keep touching your face with your hands.

This product is perfect for all skin types, whether you’re prone to dry, oily skin or even breakouts. It’s alcohol-free so therefore does not cause any irritation or sensitivity to the skin. The overall result is a toned and well-balanced complexion benefiting from its antioxidant-rich extracts. I feel truly pampered using this super indulgent toner every day after cleansing my face. This has to be by far the best natural toner I’ve ever used. I just adore how refreshed my skin feels after using it and I have definitely felt the difference in the improved absorption of my moisturiser after using this wonderful product.
